Costs should not be your first concern when seeking a reputable polygraph examiner.  Training and experience should be your priority.

Polygraph examiners who are well-trained, well-qualified and well-experienced usually may charge slightly more than less-experienced and less-qualified polygraph examiners.  The accuracy and usefulness of a polygraph exam is heavily influenced by training and experience.  Polygraph exams are complex and generally speaking the more experience the examiner has, the more he/she has learnt over the years, which will be to your benefit.

Cheap coffee leaves a bad taste in the mouth…. Cheap polygraph examiners may as well

Due to the very significant financial outlays for expensive training and equipment and taking into account the time consuming nature of a polygraph exam and the related paperwork as well as costs related to the upkeep of a professional office (rent, telephones, salaries etc.), a polygraph exam will normally not cost just a few Rand.  Costs may vary significantly depending on factors such as:

  • How many polygraph exams must be done in a particular case (if more than 3, discounts of up to 20% may become applicable);
  • The type of polygraph exam required (specific, pre-employment or random/periodic);
  • Whether the polygraph exam would be done at our office or not (travelling charges are applicable if testing is not done at our office);
  • Whether an interpreter may be required or not (if needed, additional fees are payable);
  • Whether the client requires payment terms/an account, or not (C.O.D. clients will pay less than those opening an account).

We strive to really provide each and every client with excellent value for money services

As we are very well-established and constantly busy, we have a high turnover and we are therefore able to offer very competitive testing fees (in 2017 the fee for a basic business crime polygraph exam dealing with one single issue: R750.00 plus VAT).  In the USA the average cost of a simple polygraph exam would start at around U$250.00 (at a R10 exchange rate, that would mean R2500.00).
